Jerry & Connie Heggestad have made another move. On the 12th of August we moved to another facility in Rapid City. This is the place we wanted to move into first, but they did not have an opening. It’s called Good Samaritan or St. Martins or Heritage Center. We now have a two bedroom apt. which is much bigger than the first one we had and also offers more services including all levels of care.
As we are preparing to move on the 12th, the Doctor's office called and said to bring Jerry to the ER, now as his scan from that morning didn’t look good. It was a very good thing that both girls were there and Dawn’s husband, Jeff. We had scheduled a moving van to move us (another great idea as the trip to ER was not programed into our thinking)
Long story short, Got to ER and Jerry had a collapsed right lung, they took him back to a procedure room and inserted a chest tube into the space around his lung to drain out the fluid. At that time we didn’t know if he had a hole in his lung or just where all the fluid was coming from. He collected over a 1000 cc of fluid in first 12 hrs. it was a total of 4500 cc upon discharge. Of course he was admitted and the rest of the family moved us into our new digs.
We now have a 2 bedroom apt. with much more storage space and just more space. Jerry was dismissed from the hosp. yesterday and we had to introduce him to his new digs. He is much better, he can go further and doesn’t gasp for air as often.
